My first week at Mississippi National River and Recreation Area has been a whirlwind. I stepped foot in the state of Minnesota for the first time last week and have been slowly getting acquainted to the idea that my park is central to a giant metropolitan area. It’s not the traditional idea of an untouched National Park, but it is the sanctuary for citizens of the Twin Cities…when they finally realize it’s there. My mission over the next 50 weeks (have we really been doing this for 2 weeks already?!) will be to get more people visiting and volunteering at Mississippi National River & Recreation Area.
