It has been a whirlwind of a month getting acquainted with Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Chickasaw is in an ecotone so it boosts a wide variety of plant life and you can see cactus on one side of a trail and an eastern redbud on the other side. It is really cool to walk through and see the changes and blending throughout the park. Chickasaw is currently dealing with an unprecedented amount of rain and our large lake has closed some areas of the park (look on our Facebook for some of the incredible pictures). I have met a few of our camphosts, which are our main volunteers right now, but we hope to change this in the coming year. I am excited to see what the year brings and what projects we accomplish. Below is a picture of one of my favorite spots at Chickasaw— Bromide Hill overlook.
