This past Saturday Cassie and I had a chance to take part in the black powder training. We met up with park rangers and some crew members of the Armada soccer team. The morning was spent learning how to make rounds using a wooden cylinder, tape, aluminum foil and gun powder. To put us in the mood of the festivities we were dressed many layered outfits to fit the time period. Did I mention that it was about 95 degrees outside. Needless to say we decided to lift our dresses and show a little ankle. Susie, one of the park rangers, took us through the same drill that soldiers would have gone through during war times. At the end of the day Cassie and I both got to fire off a cannon that was aimed at one of the passing ships. Don’t worry we were just shooting powder so all that traveled was sound.
