For international coastal clean up day, Fire Island National Seashore along with the River Head Foundation had many, many groups and individual volunteers come out to the Otis Pike High Dune Wilderness to clean up the beach. The River Head Foundation provided the proper equipment for participants to utilize and help clean up the beach.

40 participants, ranging from scouts, cheerleaders and non-group affiliated individuals came out for the cause, helping us collect 60 bags filled with garbage, helping bring us closer to our goal of 2016 lbs of garbage collected from Fire Island National Seashore for the year. This event and monthly beach clean-ups, help to engage stewardship in visitors of Fire Island National Seashore.
